• Question: What’s the difference between college and university

      In Spain there is no such a thing as colleges. There are only universities, so when I first came to Ireland I had the same doubt as you. Colleges are smaller and only offers you undergraduate degrees. Univeristies offer undergraduate and also graduate degrees like masters or PhD’s. Universities are bigger and have more different degrees to offer.

      In general in Ireland there is not that much of a difference between a university, college and also an institute of technology.. In other countries this difference is much greater but here in general they can offer the same qualifications. Fees are often a little different. Sometimes colleges might specifically focus on one subject but this is not always the case.
