I cannot remember my first science experiment ever (it was too long ago haha!) but in what I am currently working on I was first involved in extracting the DNA from the bacteria in poo samples.

This reaction was my first experiment
      CaC2 + 2H2O → Ca(OH)2 + C2H2

in a test tube, you mix CaC2 and water…and then ethylene is formed and you set it on fire!
      easy and spectacular!

I cannot remember which one was the first. But one of the first was how to get the salt out of sea water. You just boil the sea water until no liquid is left and the small cristals that appear are mostly salt.
