I think it is important to be organised and flexible. I often have a lot of different experiments on the go at once and so I need to plan my days carefully to make sure I get around to each task. It is important to be flexible also as sometimes things go wrong and you just have to find another solution to the problem.

Any scientist should have the skill of criticise his/her own work; if you become your best critic you will become a good scientist.
As for an specific scientist, like food or agricultural scientist I think you need to like what you are going to work with. If you don’t like the countryside, cattle, crops and everything else there is no point on spending the rest of your life working on it as an agricultural scientist. The same works on food scientist or any other type of scientist.

      Excellent question!

Analytical thinking and patience. Also, a good understanding of the chemistry of food is essential.
Food is a very complex matrix, so you would need to know about chemistry and biochemistry of food in order to become a good agri-food scientist 🙂
