Vitamin supplements can be helpful when someone is not getting enough of a vitamin in their diet or they are deficient in a certain vitamin. They do work.. although some are better absorbed in the body than others so it does depend on this. Also it is important that they are not taken as a substitute for a healthy diet and not taken if they are not needed as some vitamins are not needed in the body in excess.

      Not really!
If you follow a balanced diet you do not need them! In any case, for the water soluble vitamins (B and C), you do not need to take them into excess as your body gets rid of any excess with urine/sweat etc. Lipid soluble vitamins are almost everywhere so again with a balanced diet, you do not need supplements.
People with specific diseases may need them though but for a specific length of time!

Make food your medicine! Make your greengrocer your pharmacist!
As Hippocrates would say today… 🙂
