• Question: What do we need more iron or vitamins? Or do we need the same amount of both of them because we need to have them for different things in our body?

We need both in different amounts. It is important that we get both because as you said they are doing different things in our bodies.

We need different amounts based on what function the iron and vitamins do, however if we eat a healthy, balanced diet we will obtain enough iron and vitamins for our body to function.

We need iron to make haemoglobin which carrys the oxygen in our blood! We need vitamins for our immune system, to help us grow and to help our brain and body function!

The quantities we need are a bit different depending on the vitamin we are talking about. For iron 11 mili-grams per day for children between 12-17 years is the recommended amount. And for vitamins for example Vitamin A 250 to 750 micro grams a day (in children), or for Vitamin C around 100 mili-grams per day.

We need both for the body to function properly.
